The Technical Committee’s most recent meeting was 25 February 2026, hosted by Heidelberg Materials. It was a productive meeting, with the new agenda item on Standards, presented by Gareth Wake and Tony Jones, MPA, generating excellent discussion and collaboration.

The agenda then passed to the co-chairs Chris Clear for Materials, Owen Brooker for Design & Construction and Enda McKenna for Repair & Reuse, and concluded with an activity update from the Society from Claire Ackerman, chief executive and Steve Thorpe, technical director.

Technical Committee

The Technical Committee was reformed in 2024, and a review of all 150 technical publications published by the Concrete Society was initiated. The priority for the Committee was to provide feedback on the “essentiality” of the Society Technical reports. Of the 50 Technical reports, 14 were deemed essential, with a commitment made to review all 14 within the next 3 years, and then commit to a rolling review every 5 years.
