    Concrete Competence

The Concrete Society and CONSTRUCT are delighted to be co-chairs of a new Working Group, supported by expertise from the citb.

This new concrete industry working group will discuss and define the competence (appropriate skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours) needed for Concrete Operatives. The working group started in June 2026 and is due to issue the competence framework for public comment by May 2027.

The project is part of the implementation of the Building Safety Act and is being overseen by the Industry Competence Steering Group (ICSG), which reports to the Building Safety Regulator.
