For sole traders, students and anyone interested in concrete.
Concrete Engineering International (CEI) has been published under variants of its present title since 1997, published in turn by both Palladian Publications and the Concrete Society.
1997
Concrete Engineering International launched
In late 1997 subscribers and readers expecting to receive their November/December issue of Construction Repair were advised that they would now be receiving a new journal to reflect requests from readers and advertisers for wider coverage of concrete related topics.
The new title, Concrete Engineering International would continue to carry regular articles on concrete repairs and associated subjects.
The new magazine had a new identity and was published eight times a year; this reduced to four issues a year in 2001.
2003
Concrete Engineering International acquired by the Concrete Society
CEI was acquired by The Concrete Society in 2003 and provided project reports and case studies from across the world. Each quarterly issue had five themes, plus a ‘Materials Review’ and ‘Regional Report’.
Latterly CEI was subsumed into Concrete magazine and was given a new design in April 2010. Nonetheless, CEI was a definable section, marked by an internal title-page and characterised by contrasting typography.
In 2014, the Concrete Society announced that CEI was to be reinstated as a standalone periodical again, with two issues a year from January 2015.
2026
Concrete Engineering International merged with Concrete magazine
After 11 years as a bi-annual magazine, published each January and August, Concrete Engineering International (CEI) has once again ceased publication as a stand-alone title.
Edited throughout this period by Helen Marney, the final issue came off the press in August 2026.
From 2027, members and subscribers will receive a single publication, Concrete, that brings together the Society’s flagship content with the technical advances, international case studies and architecturally led projects that have long been associated with CEI.
The refreshed approach responds to feedback from a comprehensive member survey, that stated a preference for a single integrated title from the Concrete Society. Allowing them to benefit from the unique mix of high-quality concrete-related content in every issue.
