Calcined Clay – a new discussion document

The Concrete Society has published a new discussion document - Calcined Clay: Benefits and Adoption for UK Concrete

The Concrete Society has published a new Discussion Document on behalf of a Task and Finish Group led by HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd, PA Consulting, Expedition Engineering Ltd and MTC – Manufacturing Technology Centre.

The new document – Calcined Clay: Benefits and Adoption for UK Concrete was officially launched at an event held at the Institution of Civil Engineers in London on 4 December.

This discussion document aims to demonstrate the viability of calcined clays as a Supplementary Cementitious Material (SCM) in concrete, addressing concerns over its techno-economic feasibility and challenging current perceptions.

The paper recommends a series of interventions to enable behavioural change, demand signalling, and widespread adoption of calcined clay in the UK. These outcomes were facilitated by the Calcined Clay Task and Finish Group.
