Seminar held at the UK Concrete Show 25

Society at the UK Concrete Show 2025

The Concrete Society attended the UK Concrete Show, NEC, Birmingham, on the 26-27th February.

The Concrete Society attended the UK Concrete Show, NEC, Birmingham, on the 26-27th February.

On the morning of day one the Society held its Regional Assembly, for the first time in a number of years, that saw Officers from all of its 9 active Regions attend. Concrete Society Chief Executive, Claire Ackerman, gave an overview of the Society’s strategy followed by Director of Membership & Regions, Lee Sadler, who gave an update on some of the changes and improvements being implemented to support the Regions moving forwards. The bulk of the Assembly though was conducted by Pamela Morris, Regions Representative, who led a discussion with Officers to understand what additional support the Regions required from central office and how they could collaborate and learn from each other.

On the exhibition floor, the Society had a booth in the ‘Find your Community’ area. It was great to see so many of the Society’s members in attendance and pop by to say ‘hello’. It was also good to see so many attendees interested in joining the Society as members, contributing to the magazine, and wanting to be involved in technical committees.

At the entrance to the exhibition there was a huge display of the 2024 Concrete Society Awards winners, which was well received and had a lot of interest.

On day two, the Society launched its latest Good Concrete Guide – Digital Monitoring and Measurement of Fresh Concrete – with a session in the Concrete Connect seminar theatre. Claire Ackerman chaired the session that saw presentations by Steve Phipps, Balfour Beaty Vinci, and Helen Frape, Verfii. They were then joined by Ian Evans, Concrete Society, and Russel Elfenbein, Cloud Cycle, for a panel discussion.

The Guide is now available from the Concrete Bookshop and will be sent to the relevant Society members.
