Name: Michael Amodeo
Job Title: Managing Director
Organisation: Amodeo Limited – Industrial Concrete Flooring
Date joined Council: July 2017
Why did you become a member of the Society and why would you recommend it?
To have access to information and increase my knowledge of matters relating to concrete and relating to the sector in which we operate.
Why did you first decide to volunteer for the Society?
In 1998 the Society’s Wales Region was planning a concrete flooring seminar in South Wales. As we were known to members of the organising committee to be the only Company in the area to have the latest laser screed equipment, I was asked to get involved and contribute to the organisation and presentation of the seminar.
Following the success of the day I was invited to join the Wales Region Committee.
What have you most enjoyed about being a volunteer and part of the Council?
Having a voice on matters important to the ongoing success of the Society, meeting and getting to know head office staff and the friendships formed with other Council members.
How has volunteering/being part of the Council helped you in building your professional network?
Being an active member of the Wales Region, including regional Chairman and then becoming a part of Council has increased my professional profile which in turn has increased the profile of my Business. Most importantly, it has given me the opportunity to meet and know many people within the industry.
What are your aims for your two-year term as President?
To play an active role in making the Society fit for the future by ensuring it is able to remain relevant and worthy of the respect it has earned over many years.
I aim to be as visible as possible throughout the Regional network and I aim to encourage Council members to attend meetings ‘in person’ as much as possible to enable them to experience the friendship and camaraderie that this brings.
I aim to have been worthy of the position by the time my term is over and to have enjoyed the experience along the way.
