The next instalment of our Members Only Lunch & Learn series will be hosted by Ian Ellis, Head of Technical – Admixtures, Mapei.

Admixtures can assist in low carbon concrete and construction in more ways that just the traditional use of water reducing admixtures, this presentation introduces some of the other ways in which admixtures can be utilised to reduce the embodied carbon content of both concrete & construction.

Ian Ellis

Ian joined the concrete industry as a ready mixed concrete technician in 1986 and with the exception of a brief stint as a concrete plant supervisor, spent the next 14 years in the technical department rising to the position of Product Technical Manager in 1997. In 2000 the opportunity to work in the Middle East concrete industry arose & Ian spent 4 years in Bahrain & 1 year in Dubai. In 2005 the opportunity to return to the UK as a Sales Manager with Degussa Construction Chemicals was taken to broaden his horizons from a predominantly technical & production orientated career. In January 2008 Ian returned to a more technical focussed role and spent the next 14 years as Technical Services Manager for what had become BASF Construction Chemicals and then MasterBuilders Solutions. In 2022, Ian joined Mapei UK as Head of Technical, Admixtures, where he remains today.
