In the predigital world of concrete production, producers typically have good control of production at the plant. However, once the truck leaves the plant it enters “a fog” of unknown and due to the nature of fresh concrete, there is no guarantee that the slump the load left the plant at, is what arrives on the job site. Feedback is often subjective and if changes need to be made at any point, producers are reliant on a ready mix truck driver. Drivers are employed to drive, and they do a very good job. Asking them to be a concrete QC technician when concrete is far more complex than it was 30 years ago is unfair. This lack of visibility means there is excessive variability in process output and has resulted in the supply chain needing to overdesign concrete to off set this variation and ensure concrete meets its durability and strength specifications.

The advent of digital surveillance tools such as Verifi has transformed the supply chain’s ability to deal with these challenges and has created opportunities for optimisation that reach from the producer all the way back to the client. In this presentation Helen will share their journey as a tech provider in this space, highlight some exciting new digital technology that they now own  and they look forward to hearing your thoughts on future utilisation.

This session will also refer to the recently published Concrete Society Good Concrete Guide 11.

The webinar is 35 minutes with 10 minutes for any questions.
