Concrete Society Region, north west technical event

Could you be a Regional volunteer?

Our regional volunteers deliver technical and training events to thousands of concrete professionals every year.

For those passionate about concrete and construction, or simply making a meaningful contribution to the built environment, volunteering for a Concrete Society region offers a unique opportunity to engage with a vibrant professional community.

Founded to promote technical excellence and knowledge sharing, the Concrete Society is an independent membership organisation that supports professionals across the concrete supply chain. Volunteers play a vital role in the Society’s mission, contributing to regional committees – organising technical and social events that foster knowledge exchange and networking.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering for a Concrete Society region allows individuals to:

  • Expand their professional network through regional events and with others on the committee.
  • Support knowledge exchange by helping organise training and technical sessions.
  • Gain recognition and visibility within the industry.

Regional committees are run by dedicated volunteers from diverse disciplines. These committees host popular events like lunches, technical & training days, and other social activities which attract thousands of professionals each year.

Volunteering has been invaluable both for personal development and for business growth. It has allowed me to connect with a wide range of professionals and broaden my understanding of industry challenges and innovations.

Being part of an extremely active and close-knit regional committee has been a particular highlight. Having a wealth of industry knowledge and support available over the phone has been a great help in my own career.

Being a member and Chair has definitely raised my profile regionally which has been invaluable, both personally and for our business. Regionally our events are the highlight of the built environment calendar selling out sometimes within 24 hours.

Who can get involved?

All Society members are invited to join whether you’re a student, early-career professional, or seasoned expert we welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and from across the whole concrete supply chain.

What would I be doing?

Most of the regional activity centres around events – this could be planning events, sourcing venues, finding technical speakers, drumming up support and bookings, managing budgets, registering guests on the day, or managing social media activity. There are many different roles and ways you can contribute based on your passions and interests.

You could also move on to one of the regions’ ‘officer’ roles, such as Chair, which would have additional responsibilities including attending Concrete Society Council meetings.

Each region operates differently, but typically it would be one committee meeting each month depending on event activity.

How to get involved

Most of the Society’s nine regions, including Yorkshire and North East, and Devon and Cornwall, are looking for additional support to help deliver exceptional events.

If this is something of interest or you would like to know more, please get in touch by emailing: events@concrete.org.uk or by speaking to one of the regions committee members.

A community built on concrete values

At its core, the Concrete Society is more than just an organisation—it’s a community. Volunteering is a chance to be part of something bigger, to share knowledge, celebrate achievements, and contribute to some great events!
