Regions & Clubs Overview
The Society is represented by Regions and Clubs throughout the United Kingdom. Each arranges
a comprehensive programme of technical and social meetings in their areas - over 200 in total every year. Regional
and Club events also provide an ideal social forum for Members to make valuable business and personal
contacts. The local activities offer an excellent gateway for students and young professionals to become
acquainted with the construction industry and to build up continuing professional development experience.
Non-members of the Society are welcome at Regional and Club events, but notices of meetings are only
sent to Members. Full details of forthcoming meetings are given under EVENTS.
Each Region and Club is operated by a local voluntary committee of Society members representing
a wide range of disciplines and interests within the construction industry.
Focus for the work of the region and club committees is the Regional and Club Assembly (RCA),
which sets standards, monitors performance, exchanges information, comments on policy and makes
recommendations to Council. In the words of the first Chairman of the RCA, Brian Foley, the joint aim is:
that the clubs and regions shall together form the best ‘Construction Club’ in the country, providing
technical information to allow members to stay up-to-date. In addition, they should offer the best
social environment in which to relax and enjoy the company of business colleagues from a wide
variety of backgrounds to their mutual benefit.
